Solace, the sophomore project of DigiPen student game team One Man Down, has been selected as one of eight Student Showcase winners at the 2011 Independent Games Festival, part of the 25th annual Game Developers Conference, to be held from February 28 to March 4 in San Francisco, CA.
Solace was selected from a field of more than 280 games submitted by students from universities and game programs around the world, and joins the ranks of past award-winning DigiPen student games including Tag: The Power of Paint and Narbacular Drop.
This isn’t the first recognition Solace has earned from the game development community — it was previously selected as one of the PAX 10 at the 2010 Penny Arcade Expo and was named a finalist of the 2010 IndieCade Festival. In addition to winning a Student Showcase award at IGF, Solace is in the running for the Best Student Game award. The winner will be announced at the IGF award ceremony on March 2.
Congratulations to DigiPen students Robert Francis, Jordan Hemenway, Dan Rosas, and Jami Lukins on their tremendous accomplishment!
